library operations, as well as provide library directors with new and
different strategies to achieve goals.

community leaders proudly displaying
their favorite
books.
5) "Shelf Life -- Using a Business Alliance to Create an Innovative
Library Space"
Presenter: William Brahms, Branch Manager, M. Allan Vogelson Regional
Branch Library, Camden County Library System
Abstract: The Camden County
Library System has partnered in an experimental project by creating
a library annex in a local shopping mall. The model
for the
space is a retail-store concept in terms of merchandising, staffing,
use of space and appearance. There are no "shelves" in shelf life
but lots of slatwall, spinners, librarian artwork, a children’s
program area, meeting space and evening a gaming area. Once comfortable
in the
atmosphere, the user finds that the annex offers the full range of
basic library functions.
6) "My First 365 Days As A Children's Librarian"
Presenter: Judith Lieberman, Children's Librarian, Newark Public Library
Abstract:
Check out how we successfully navigated our way though the year
with the support of colleagues, professional affiliations, listservs,
and
our
personal experiences; we had one great year! Our poster will feature
resources which were helpful in making this year a success.
7) "Extra!
Extra! Read All About It!"
Presenters: Renee Riczker, West Orange Public Library; Maryann Ralph,
West Orange Public Library; and Uma Hiremath, West Orange Public
Library
Abstract: Come see what makes West Orange’s summer
programming unique.
