2005
NJLA CONFERENCE
Welcome from the President
Welcome
to the 2006 NJLA Conference: Advocacy, Alliances and Action. The program
line up is impressive
both in the plethora of topics offered and renowned guest speakers.
Many of the featured programs focus on one of these three A’s. From
advocating to have LGBIT teen programs in libraries; to building alliances
with
25 ideas in 50 minutes; to taking action to recruit librarians for
positions in urban
libraries, to create compensation plans, to boost staff morale and
to motivate boys to read.
The Conference is a time to expand your horizons, gather new and innovative
ideas to take back to your library and to network with librarians from
across the state. It is a time to enjoy the company of old friends and
make new ones. I hope you find your 2006 Conference experience an enriching,
fulfilling and informative one.
For those of you who I did not have the opportunity to meet during my
tenure as President of NJLA, I look forward to meeting you during the
Conference and working with you on future NJLA endeavors.
I extend a very special invitation to everyone to join me on Wednesday
morning for my Fun Run (you may either walk or run) along the walkway
overlooking the ocean. You will start your day energized!
And a reminder-please attend the important NJLA Business Meeting on
Tuesday at 2:30 PM. See the Executive Board in action, discover all that
the NJLA Executive Board has accomplished during the past year and learn
about future events. As a member of the Association, you may vote on
the proposed new NJLA Bylaws, a copy of which you received in a spring
NJLA mailing.
I extend my sincere and great thanks to everyone (there are SO many
to name!) who made the Conference a surely successful, exciting and wonderful
experience for all attendees.
Enjoy the Conference and your stay in Long Branch.
All my best,
April L. Judge
NJLA President
