The New Jersey Library Association, along with partners, is actively advocating for New Jersey students to have the opportunity to improve literacy and build information literacy skills taught by a state certified school library media specialist.  These skills will prepare New Jersey Students for college and beyond.

Federal Budget Update

NJLA posted a legislative alert last week urging the library community to contact their federal representatives regarding funding for library services.  In his budget proposal, President Trump calls for the elimination of two key programs which provide critical funds in NJ Libraries.  The two programs are the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL).

NJLA Library Advocacy Fortnight

Join us this April 3 to 17 as library staff and supporters visit the local offices of NJ legislators to talk about the roles of our libraries in our communities and schools as well as the legislative agenda of the New Jersey Library Association.  Our organization is advocating for four bills:
