Jacqueline Woodson Library of Congress 2018 – 2019 National Ambassador for Young People's Literature

The NJ State Library, along with the NJ Library Association and the NJ Association of School Librarians is excited to be a part of a special initiative in collaboration with The New Jersey Center for the Book, The College of New Jersey, and Rutgers University featuring Jacqueline Woodson’s recent book Harbor Me and many of her 30 other titles. If you are looking for an amazing book to recommend to middle grade readers for the summer reading program or book club, Harbor Me is a fantastic choice.

The College of New Jersey is working with educators this summer to develop online a list of resources, lesson plans and a film featuring excerpts from Woodson’s books that will be released in August.  Stay tuned for more information on this collaboration.

In the meantime, start thinking with Jacqueline Woodson about your “equation” and encourage the young people who use your library to create their own as part of their summer reading.  We will share what the young people create throughout the state of New Jersey and with this incredible author.

Jacqueline Woodson is one of the keynote speakers at the NJ Association of School Librarians Annual Conference on December 10, 2019 in East Brunswick.
