Library Associate for Collection Services, New Brunswick Theological Seminary - Gardner A. Sage Library, New Brunswick

The Gardner A. Sage Library seeks an energetic, collaborative, and service-oriented professional to assist in critical aspects of collection services, including: acquiring new books, journals and digital resources (by purchase and donations); maintaining organized documentation of historic and new resources; and facilitating access to collections in support of the mission of New Brunswick Theological Seminary (NBTS). Reporting to the Collection Services Librarian, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the Library staff.

Qualifications/Requirements: 

Expected qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. 
  • Detail-oriented work habits and possess strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to respond promptly to supervisor’s, colleagues’ and users’ requests 
  • Excellent basic computer skills. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Persistence in problem solving and in response to challenges. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively in speaking and writing. 
  • Experience searching the internet and library catalogs. 
  • Tolerance for ambiguity and accepting other duties as assigned. 
  • Availability to work several daytime shifts each week.

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Experience with records management (online orders, invoices, inventories in MS Excel) 
  • Academic background or personal interest in the humanities, religion or theology. 
  • Two years of library experience in the area of technical services or equivalent. 
  • Familiarity with database programs and shared drives on cloud or network servers. 
  • Availability to work evening and/or Saturday shifts on occasion.
