Library Director - McCowan Memorial Library

McCowan Memorial Library in Pitman, New Jersey is looking for an energetic Director to lead the dedicated staff of our small town library nestled in the heart of the Pitman’s Uptown Shopping and Cultural Center.

The new Director will be expected to work effectively with the Board of Trustees as well as Community and Business Leaders, coordinate fundraising efforts with The Friends of the Library, and design and implement library programs and services. In addition, understanding budget management, and an effective ability and knowledge of best practices in library technologies are all necessary skills.

 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in Library Science and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited graduate school, knowledge of modern ILS and current technologies available to library staff and patrons. Applicants must also possess (or be eligible for) the Professional Librarian’s Certificate issued by the State of New Jersey.

High priority qualifications include: skill and success in working with, developing, and hiring personnel; strong oral and written communication skills; customer focus and excellent public relations skills; strategic planning and goal setting.
