About the Position:
Paterson Library is offering an opportunity to work with a dynamic urban library. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, engaged Reference and Resource Librarian who is eager for the opportunity to advance their skills and provide enriched library services throughout our city.

Major Duties:

  • Provide professional support in the areas of reference services, information management and patron outreach regarding available library services and resources.
  • Oversee implementation and ongoing provision of grant-funded services at Career Center.
  • Provide information literacy instruction through orientations, workshops and individual reference assistance.
  • Develop and conduct job readiness workshops and education information sessions to library users at different branch locations using laptops and online resources.
  • Identify community partners and build relationships with workforce development, job training and community based organizations. 
  • Coordinate promotion of job readiness resources and services across departments. 
  • Contribute to website and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapchat.

MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution, two years of recent library experience and a Professional Librarian certificate issued by the State of New Jersey. Must have a valid New Jersey Driver’s License. This person must have a strong knowledge of current library technologies and demonstrated experience using technology and digital resources. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
