WHERE: Bernardsville Public Library, Youth Services Department 
WHAT: Paid Internship average 18-21 hours/week 
WHEN: June 2019-August 31, 2019 with the possibility of a permanent position in September
Seeking an outgoing, imaginative person who will stop at nothing short of pyrotechnics wanted to help bring programs to life, promote collections, and respond to patrons. If you have the will power of a marathon runner combined with the whimsy of one who eats dessert first, we are looking for you.
This is an excellent hands-on opportunity to learn from an award-winning staff and gain experience in a nationally recognized library.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program planning, implementation and execution, 
  • Collection development, 
  • Reader’s advisory, 
  • Shelving, 
  • Displays,
  • Support of big events such as the summer reading program and winter camp activities. 
  • Occasionally fill in for circulation staff. 
Qualifications/Requirements: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Interest in children’s and young adult reading material, video games, music and movies.
  • Ability to work well with other staff members and to collaborate on assignments and projects.
  • Flexibility regarding schedule as well as work assignments.
  • Possess patience, professionalism, excellent judgement, and a strong sense of responsibility. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Library experience and/or graduate level course work in library science is a plus.
  • Experience working with children is required.
  • Must be available to work at least one evening per week and two weekend days per month. 
  • High comfort level using computers for professional purposes.
