Member-to-Member Communications

There are various methods for communicating with leadership, your group, and NJLA members.

communicating with your group
 E-Lists (Distribution Lists)

Every committee and section has an e-list email address that can be used to communicate with all members of their group. For sections, joining an e-list is the same as joining the section as a member.

  • For committees: committee members are added to the e-list by office staff and are removed from the list when their term ends.
  • For sections: section e-lists are open to all members of NJLA so it is the responsibility of the section member to add or remove themselves from the e-list.

Click here for instructions to join or leave an e-list and how to send a message.

** Please keep in mind that when replying to an e-list message, you will reply to the entire group, not just the person that sent the email.
** When sending emails to the list, you must send from the email address associated with your njla.org/memberclicks account or the email will be rejected. You will not receive a notification that the email was rejected.

  Requesting a Zoom Room/Link

If your group does not have access to a paid Zoom account, the Professional Development Committee can set up meeting rooms for you. Send an email to [email protected] to put in a request.

 NJLAMembers.org Email Accounts

Every committee and section has an njlamembers.org email address. These addresses are mostly used for communicating with the public or membership. For example, the scholarship committee uses their address to receive scholarship applications, the conference committee uses their address to communicate with conference attendees, and the professional development committee uses their address to process requests for Zoom meeting rooms from other committees and sections.

Generally, only committee chairs and the section President and VP have access to this email address but the chairs are free to share the password with any member they think will need access to the address. Please keep in mind that two-factor authentication normally makes it difficult to share this email address with multiple users.

 Getting News out to Members

If you have news or an event to share with membership, there are a number of options including the Friday Newsletter, social media, and event calendar to name a few. Please see Promoting events for more information.

While it may be tempting to cross post announcements to other section lists, please avoid doing this. There are hundreds of people on each section list and many people are subscribed to multiple e-lists. Members do not like receiving the same message six times.

 Leadership Contact Spreadsheet

The most up-to-date contact list is recorded in this spreadsheet. If your group experiences a change in leadership, please let us know ([email protected]) so we can keep all lists current. Note, this spreadsheet is only available to members in leadership positions.
